SCWB have achieved another Platinum Award! We were in Cheltenham on 25th November 2018, competing in one of the Regional events of the National Concert Band Festival
2018. The two adjudicators for the day, Simon Hogg and Dr Nick Grace OBE, were wowed by our 20 minute programme which consisted of Chorale and Alleluia (Howard Hanson), An
Original Suite: No.2 Intermezzo & No.3 Finale (Gordon Jacob) and Bells Across the Atlantic (Adam Gorb).
It is a remarkable achievement and fitting recognition of the band's concentrated and dedicated work to rehearse these pieces, under the careful guidance of MD, Calum Gray.
SCWB is adopting a composer!
We have been selected to be one of only two wind orchestras in the country to be paired with an up and coming composer to create a new piece of music. The band has been chosen by Making Music UK, which is the UK's number one organisation for leisure-time music.
The band will be working with composer Robert Laidlow - you can read the first of his four blogs here.
Fresh from our success at the National Concert Band Festival where we were thrilled to receive another Platinum award, we now turn our attention to Christmas.
The sleigh bells are out of tissue paper and we are brushing up the carols ready for our concert at St Andrew's on Saturday 15th December at 3pm.
We hope you will join us!
